By the time this Spring issue of the Gazette is in your hands, you will already have been invited to attend the reception marking the Ocean Liner Museum members' preview of your latest exhibition. It will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4th. Displacing over 20,000 words and 150 photographs, the exhibition catalogue has been written by your Editor. Its cover, reproduced above in black and white, portrays a generic but implacable ocean liner bow steaming relentlessly across a hostile Atlantic. It is the talented work of our guest curator Wayne Mazzotta.
Additionally, all of you will have received an invitation to purchase tickets for a gala preview dinner
|
that will take place at 14 Wall Street immediately following the opening reception.
The restaurant 14 Wall Street was at one time the bachelor apartment of J.P. Morgan, founder of the International Mercantile Marine, with a magnificent view of New York harbor. The dinner will be followed by an auction of ocean liner memorabilia donated by members, trustees and friends of the Museum. Included in the price of the ticket will be bus transportation from the gallery to the restaurant as well as return to mid-town once the dinner and auction have concluded.
The evening promises to be a festive and unforgettable launch for Blue Ribband.
